The FFDS at a glance
The UK FFDS takes place in a commercial Holstein dairy cattle farm and focuses on reducing methane emissions under real-world farming conditions. It tests the most effective methane-mitigation diet recommended by the DST based on animal genetic background, assessing its performance at commercial farm level.
The demonstration monitors methane emissions alongside milk production and herd performance, while engaging farmers and stakeholders in assessing the practical application of the tested approach.

Demonstration Focus
Methane-Mitigation Intervention
Validation of RUMINATE’s DST through application of the genomic marker panel and recommended methane-mitigation diet identified through RUMINATE’s controlled trials.
Commercial Farm Validation
Evaluation of the developed solutions under real-world commercial farming conditions.
