About:
Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) was established in 1975 and its Faculty of Agriculture followed in 1976. The university encompasses 17 faculties, five graduate schools, 11 vocational schools, and a conservatoire, alongside 21 research and application centres.
Role in the project:
OMU will assess the effects of selected nutritional interventions on animal performance, welfare, and environmental impact under heat stress scenarios in dairy sheep. Investigate genotype × environment × management interactions by linking phenotypic, genomic, and microbiome data. OMU will also develop and validate genomic estimated breeding values for key adaptive and mitigation traits, enhancing the precision of future breeding decisions under diverse environmental conditions by developing accurate genomic prediction tools to support selection for climate resilience for sheep phenotypes.
